ILEM makes space for disputing the crucial debates in Turkish modernization and intellectual tendencies with leading names in the field regarding the 100th Anniversary of the Republic.
Having completed its 100th anniversary, the Republic of Turkey stands before us as one of the important outcomes of Turkish modernization. In addition to its claim to be a nation-state, the Republic also embodies the most important sources of Turkey's multifaceted social change. It is currently feeding these resources through various policies. As a historical and sociological phenomenon, the republic has an active role in many changes reflected in the social sphere beyond the practices of the foundation period. Therefore, when analyzing this social change, social scientists must evaluate and discuss it by taking into account the different, similar, and opposing elements and orientations.
ILEM Research Studies is organizing a seminar series to address this social change from a scholarly perspective. The most important emphasis in these seminars is to analyze the change from past to present with its causes and consequences and to make predictions about its course.
The seminars will be held face-to-face at İLEM's building in Üsküdar and will also be broadcast live on ILEM TV (Youtube).
