The third and final phase of the Islamist Journals Project covers journals published after 1980. Nearly 20,000 issues of approximately 500 journals are being digitized and catalogued. When the project is completed, a 100-year archive of journals will be available online.
The project, which will continue until the end of 2018, aims to bring a new dimension to the thought of Islamism and the discussions on it and to contribute to the rethinking of the issues related to Islamism through journals, which are the most important primary sources of Islamist thought.
In this context, a symposium on “Islamism Thought and Islamist Journals from 1908 to Today” will be organized with Üsküdar Municipality on 20-22 April 2018. In the 3-day symposium, academics will present papers on periodicals and issues related to Islamism, sessions will be organized with the participation of important names who played a role in the publishing development of the post-80 period, and presentations on Islamist thought & publishing will take place.
