Philosophy & Science Studies Center Presentations address current issues, examine completed studies from new perspectives, and include them in the academic agenda.
Emrullah Kılıç will make his presentation titled “The Journey of Morality” at ILEM. In this presentation based on his book titled “From Metaphysical Good to Value: The Journey of Morality”, Kılıç will discuss the moral issues that organize life, their change, transformation, and the basic motivations that cause this transformation rather than their historical processes.
The presentation will examine the change and transformation of moral issues through the concepts of “good” and “value”. The replacement of the “metaphysical good”, which refers to the good that has a single meaning and exists on its own in the traditional world, with “value”, which allows different people to understand a different good in the face of new situations, with motives such as freedom, human nature, self-interest, interest, and orientation, will be discussed together with its current phenomena and tensions.
The program, which will be question-and-answer centered, will take place online on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 18:00 on İLEM TV. Everyone interested in the program is invited.
