As part of the İLEM Policy Notes series, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kömürcüoğlu from Sakarya University has written a study titled "March 30, 2014 Elections: Inability to Decipher the Urban Language of the Local." In this work, Kömürcüoğlu analyzes the urban language of the local context before the local elections, emphasizing that it is not possible to interpret the urban language of the local context in isolation within the dominant political discourse before the local elections. Therefore, he approaches the language of political discourse within a three-dimensional framework, considering the national language of politics, common points of local discourse, and the different natures of various political traditions. Additionally, focusing on specific urban spaces, he examines the nature of urbanism after 1980. As a result, Kömürcüoğlu highlights that neoliberal policies will continue to dominate, and voters will make choices based on their national identity perception.

This comprehensive analysis sheds light on the future of cities based on the election language of local governance and politics, providing important insights into the similar structures of different political parties.
