Ahmedinejad Sonrası Türkiye-İran İlişkileri

"Turkey-Iran Relations Post-Ahmadinejad"

The first article in this series, where the Association for Scientific Studies (İlmi Etüdler Derneği) shares information and policy recommendations with the public, is written by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman Elik from Istanbul Medeniyet University. The article titled "Turkey-Iran Relations Post-Ahmadinejad" discusses the future of Turkish-Iranian relations in the light of global and regional dynamics.

The main objective of the Association for Scientific Studies (İLEM) is to provide a platform for the development of qualified scholars who will play a significant role in the construction of tradition and to conduct studies for the resolution of issues that arise at the national or global level. Researchers working within İLEM contribute to the realization of this goal by producing policies on Turkey and global issues. İLEM Policy Notes series shares the results of these studies with the public. The first installment of the Policy Notes series is the work titled "Turkey-Iran Relations Post-Ahmadinejad" by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman Elik from Istanbul Medeniyet University. In this article, Elik discusses the potential form and course of Turkey-Iran relations in the light of developments following the end of the Ahmadinejad era and the assumption of office by Hasan Rouhani, who promised to bring rationality to Iran's chaotic politics. The author analyzes not only the international political balances in this relationship but also its relation to the internal politics of both countries. Elik predicts that in the new era, Turkey and Iran will seek a policy of mutual dependence, especially in economic relations, focusing on projects that will bring Iran's energy resources into the country and on political mechanisms to solve regional problems.
