The seminar series titled "Meaning and Limits of the Body," organized by the Society Studies Group of İLEM (Scientific Studies Association), aims to analyze the results of the debates surrounding the body in contemporary perception from different disciplinary perspectives. The proceedings of the seminar series have been prepared for publication under the editorship of Senanur Avcı and Nuriye Kayar.
The work focuses on the transformation of the body into the object of scientific inquiry with the emergence of a new and independent field within sociology. It presents glimpses from the journey of the body, moving away from a divine understanding and shifting towards a secular "body," as seen through the eyes of important scholars such as Irvin Cemil Schick, Kadir Canatan, Mustafa Tekin, Murat Çekin, Murat Beyazyüz, Nazife Şişman, Süheyb Öğüt, and Teyfur Erdoğdu.
