Halil Hâlid Bey (1869-1931) was a versatile Ottoman intellectual who served as an academician, journalist, parliamentarian, and diplomat, undertaking significant responsibilities both domestically and internationally. His long teaching experience at Cambridge University (1897-1911) made him one of the most competent figures of his time, particularly in terms of British and European politics. Moreover, his work in a wide geography that included Algeria, Sudan, Egypt, and India provided him with a close understanding of the Islamic world.
Halil Hâlid Bey effectively defended the rights of the Ottoman Empire and Muslim Eastern societies against Western occupation and colonialism, offering advance warnings about future events. He accomplished all of this through his newspaper articles, essays, and books written in English, French, and German. This book examines Halil Hâlid's life story, thoughts, and experiences.
