Historical Sources and Historiography in the Indian Subcontinent

The Indian Subcontinent is considered to be the "cradle of civilization" for its contributions to culture and history, as well as for its richness both above and below ground. The historiography that existed in the region was carried to a higher level with the entry of Muslims into this geography. Therefore, this book examines the historiography and its sources in the Indian Subcontinent from the first century of Islam to the 20th century.

The book consists of chapters contributed by historians from Turkey, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Iran. It includes a predominantly critical bibliography and historiographical discussions of the relatively long and subdivided centuries. The sources of each of the periods of the local sultanates that ruled in the Indian Subcontinent have been examined by historians who have specialized in the field and have published a variety of works.
