(Theories of Love in Islamic Thought)
This study, which is an etymological analysis of the concept of love (al-mahabba), aims to reveal the expansions of the concept of love in Islamic thought regarding its metaphysical, physical, moral and political dimensions.
By pointing out the difference in the nature of God's love and the love of creatures, the study includes the problems discussed by Islamic thinkers around the concept of love; thus, it provides the opportunity to make comparisons through the writings of Islamic philosophers, theologians and Sufis on love.
This work, which analyzes the concept of love in the light of texts written on Islamic thought, aims to inform its readers that love is an indispensable trait for the individual to gain moral competence and for the perfect establishment of social unity.
