(Islamic Economics and the Market)
Since the 1980s, with the spread of neoliberal policies and the globalization of finance capitalism, people have been condemned to the spiral of debt, credit and interest through banks, while financial institutions have increased their profits at exorbitant rates. In a period when financial institutions have expanded their sphere of influence to such an extent, studies on Islamic economics have also changed direction. When we look at the point reached as a result of the studies carried out in the last thirty years, we see that the search for an alternative system has evolved into efforts to exist within the existing system. The search for an economic system has been limited especially to the financial dimension, and with the introduction of interest-free banking services, a place was opened for Muslims within the system. In April 2014, with the aim of addressing Islamic economics studies in all its aspects by freeing it from the restrictions of the financial field and to ensure that Islamic economics maintains its claim as an alternative system, "II: Islamic Economics and the Market" was organized. The book "Islamic Economics and the Market" is a selection of the papers presented by scholars from different parts of the world who participated in this meeting. The book, which consists of six different articles, focuses on the relationship between Islam and the market, and discusses the possibility of a just, humane and sustainable market model in the light of historical information and current economic conditions.
