This book is the first work in Turkish literature that comprehensively examines the historiography and sources from the period of Islamic conquests in Egypt to the present day. With contributions from historians from Turkey, Egypt, and Europe, this work primarily focuses on a critical bibliography and to some extent historiographical debates related to the relatively long periods divided into dynastic eras. For this purpose, the sources of the early Islamic period, the Fatimids, the Ayyubids, the Mamluks, the Ottomans, and the nation-state periods are examined by historians specialized in each respective era who produced various works during their time. This work will be useful not only for emerging historians, especially those pursuing postgraduate studies but also for experts in the field. It provides detailed information about primary historical sources for each period to those interested in the subject, allowing them to observe, understand, and compare how historical sources and dynamics of historiography, perspectives, and types of sources have changed or remained consistent across different periods.
