(Sharh al-Akhlāq al-'Adudiyya: Melzemet al-Ahlâq)
Published in 1281 (1864), this work is a translation-commentary of the 14th century treatise entitled Ahl al-'Adudiyya written by 'Abd al-Rahmān b. Aḥmad b. 'Abd al-Ghaffār al-Ījī (v. 756/1355). The author, Mehmed Amīn Istanbulī, realized that people were experiencing a moral decline and had the idea of translating the Ethics of 'Adudiyya, which had not been translated into Turkish until then.
The first part of the work, which consists of four articles, is titled "Theoretical Ethics" and deals with the theoretical aspects of ethics. The second article is titled "The Preservation and Acquisition of Virtues" and deals with the practical issues of morality. The third chapter, titled "Household Management", and the fourth chapter, titled "City Management", cover all the issues of ethics, thus providing the reader with comprehensive information.
