Sharh al-Akhlāq al-'Adudiyya / Shams al-Dīn al-Kirmānī
One of the most important works of Islamic ethical thought, al-Ījī's ethical treatise Ahl al-'Adudiyya, although short, was quite influential and nine commentaries were written on it. According to recent classifications, the commentaries written on al-Ījī's work, which is in the line of philosophical ethics, are important in terms of showing the continuity of this line.
One of these commentaries is that of al-Kirmānī, a student of al-Ījī. What makes al-Kirmānī's commentary important among the other commentaries is that it was written by al-Ījī's student and was also the first commentary. The fact that the commentary was completed before al-Ījī's death also makes it important. It is seen that al-Kirmānī's commentary served as a source for the commentaries that followed it in terms of form and the topics discussed. The aim of this book is to contribute to the literature on ethics with the critical edition and translation of al-Kirmānī's commentary.
