(Publication Performance in Social Sciences and Academic Data Center Proposal)
One of the most important criteria for the success of academic studies is undoubtedly publication. In parallel with the worldwide increase in publication performance, it can be said that there has been a significant increase in publications in the fields of science and social sciences in Turkey in recent years. However, this increase also raises questions about the quality of publications and their contribution to the world of science.
In his policy brief titled "Publication Performance in Social Sciences and Academic Data Center Proposal", Fatih Yiğit evaluates publication performance and impact in Turkey based on quantitative data. Pointing out that despite the recent increase in publication performance in Turkey, social sciences lag behind the sciences in terms of both quantity and impact, Yiğit discusses how the problem of publication performance in social sciences can be overcome. Drawing attention to the data problem as one of the reasons for the publication performance problem, Yiğit suggests the establishment of an Academic Data Center that can present all the data obtained by the public and private sectors through a single channel to overcome this problem.
