We are happy to invite you to our 10th ILEM Istanbul Talks!
This time we have three guests from the Maqasid Institute: Jasser Auda, Basma Abdelgafar, and Ildus Rafikov. We will host Jasser Auda and Basma Abdelgafar as speakers, at ILEM Terrace Hall, and their talks will be moderated by Ildus Rafikov.
Understanding Artificial Intelligence through the lens of the Maqasid Methodology – Jasser Auda
This lecture will discuss an Islamic approach to researching Artificial Intelligence (AI) from two angles. The first is that AI attempts to mimic nature itself in various ways. The Islamic perception of nature, especially connectivity, community, and consciousness will be compared to current dominant theories. The second approach to the topic of AI is via questioning, from an Islamic perspective, AI’s objectives as technology, and its possible consequences on human well-being and the future of humanity.
Innovation in the Qur'an – Basma Abdelgafar
An important dimension of Allah’s sunnan as related to human beings is the capacity to innovate or to apply their ingenuity to raw materials and ideas, to fulfill their divinely mandated purpose, and to satisfy their needs. Humans can use this capacity in diverse ways that can either support collective flourishing or destruction. Quranic guidance is therefore indispensable for humanity to channel its knowledge and capabilities in divinely sanctioned ways. Join us in this lecture to explore such guidance and understand its implications for innovation in our lives today.

Maqasid Metodolojisinin Perspektifinden Yapay Zekayı Anlamak – Jasser Auda
