About

Scientific Studies Association (ILEM) was founded in 2002 with a view to train and support scientists and intellectuals who are expected to suggest encompassing solutions for those problems that have been taking place over two centuries. The main objectives of ILEM is conducting scientific research to suggest solutions for the questions of humanity by laying a ground for training scientists who preserve our tradition of science. ILEM hopes its scientific studies to inspire varied groups in Turkey and abroad.

ILEM Istanbul Talks is a new program series initiated by Scientific Studies Association (ILEM). In this talk, Ziauddin Sardar (Speaker) and Hatice Nuriler (Moderator) will discuss on Muslim Societies in Postnormal Times.

Ziauddin Sardar

Ziauddin Sardar was born in Pakistan and grew up in Hackney. A writer, broadcaster and cultural critic, he is one of the world's foremost Muslim intellectuals and author of more than fifty books on Islam, science and contemporary culture, including the highly acclaimed Desperately Seeking Paradise. He has been listed by Prospect magazine as one of Britain's top 100 intellectuals. Currently he is the Director of Centre for Postnormal Policy and Futures Studies at East West University, Chicago, co-editor of the quarterly Critical Muslim, consulting editor of Futures, a monthly journal on policy, planning and futures studies, and Chair of the Muslim Institute in London.

İlmi Etüdler Derneği (İLEM), 2002 yılında İslam medeniyetinin köklerinden hareketle günümüz ilim anlayışını yeniden yorumlama, sahih bir hayat nizamı için gerekli bilgi birikiminin oluşumuna katkı sunma gayesiyle kuruldu. İLEM, geleneğin birikiminden yeni bir düşüncenin inşasına fikrini paylaşan ilim insanlarının yetişmesine zemin oluşturacak ve insanlığın sorunlarına çözüm üretecek çalışmalar gerçekleştirme gayretindedir.

İLEM, düşünce dünyamızda müspet gelişmelere yol açabilmesi için akademik çalışmanın mahiyet ve gayesi üzerine yeniden düşünmenin gerekliliğine inanmakta ve ilmi çalışmalarını bu yönde şekillendirmektedir.

ILEM Istanbul Talks; her ay gerçekleştirilmesi planlanan yeni bir program serisidir. Sosyal Bilimler alanında çalışmalarını sürdüren akademisyenler programda moderatör eşliğinde konuşmalarını gerçekleştirecektir. Serinin ilk programında Ziauddin Sardar tarafından “Muslim Societies in Postnormal Times” başlıklı bir konuşma gerçekleştirilecek ve moderatörlüğünü ise Hatice Nuriler yürütecektir.
