13th Turkish Graduate Studies Congress Held in Istanbul

The Turkish Graduate Studies Congress (TLÇK), organized by the Scientific Studies Association (ILEM) since 2012, was held for the 13th time in Istanbul on December 4-6, 2024. Previously hosted in Konya, Bursa, Sakarya, Kütahya, Isparta, Muş, Burdur, Malatya, Kocaeli, Mardin, and Yalova, the congress brought together young academics from across Turkey. During the event, 97 papers were presented across 24 sessions.

13 Years, 12 Cities, 13 Universities, 1,557 Presentations

Hosted by Istanbul Medeniyet University and supported by TÜBİTAK, the congress aims to promote interdisciplinary studies in the social sciences and contribute to high-quality and original academic production. The event began with an Opening Ceremony held at Istanbul Medeniyet University’s Ziraat Bankası Library. Welcoming speeches were delivered by ILEM Chairman Taha Eğri, Istanbul Medeniyet University Rector Gülfettin Çelik, and the Chair of the 13th TLÇK Organizing Committee, Mahmut Hakkı Akın.

Following the welcoming remarks, the panel discussion titled "Israeli Aggression and the Gaza Genocide" commenced, moderated by Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Hüseyin Mercan. The panel featured presentations by Prof. Dr. Muhittin Ataman, Assoc. Prof. Hakkı Hakan Erkiner, and Assoc. Prof. Kamuran Gökdağ.

On the same day, sessions for the 13th TLÇK began. Young academics presented their papers before experienced scholars and academic candidates on various topics, including “Architecture and Urban Planning, Philosophy, Law, Sociology, Theology, Communication, Political Science, International Relations, Education, History, Art, Business, Economics, Psychology, and Literature.” At the conclusion of the congress, it was announced that the papers, organized under 16 main themes and 94 subheadings, would be published as a book and made available to the academic community.

Over 13 years, TLÇK has been held in 12 cities at 13 different universities, with a total of 1,557 papers presented.
