When it comes to rational sciences in Ottoman thought, the 16th century holds two important figures. One is represented by Takiyuddin Rasi̇d in the field of mathematical sciences, and the other is represented by Taşköprüzâde in the field of theoretical sciences.
Taşköprüzâde, the most prominent figure in the theoretical thought tradition of the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century, has had the majority of his texts left in manuscript form and largely unexplored, except for a few. The lack of evaluation of Taşköprüzâde's writings has been the primary rationale behind the complete works of Taşköprîzâde project.
